Noisemaking 101 - Starting your Pro-Tools Session
So you got some great ideas to record. Lets get started by opening Pro-Tools. Go to file menu and select new session. This will bring up the start new session dialogue.
Here you will select your project folder name (important: be really diligent about naming), file type and bit/sample rates. As a film composer it is important for you to be in touch with the post-production dubbing stage. They will require your file to be of a certain type and format. Most dubbing stages will require your file to be 24bit/48kHz. If you do not know this information you risk having your music not syncing properly to the picture.
Once you have selected your file type and have named your session, click OK. That is it, you are ready to go.
Next time I will talk about setting up track templates to speed up your production time.
